HSQE Coordinator

ABOUT THE ROLE

Reporting to the General Manager – Operations, the HSQE Officer will provide operational support and subject matter expertise across all aspects of Health, Safety, Quality and Environmental management.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting the ongoing maintenance and improvement of RM Surveys’ Integrated Management System (IMS)
  • Assisting with the management and continual improvement of ISO-certified systems and processes.
  • Leading ISO certification audits.
  • Monitoring compliance with WHS, environmental and quality legislation, standards and client requirements
  • Interpreting and providing advice on applicable WHS legislation, regulations, codes of practice and client requirements
  • Supporting the development, review and implementation of HSQE policies, procedures and management plans
  • Managing incident reporting, investigations, corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Facilitating risk assessments and maintaining organisational risk registers, including psychosocial hazard registers
  • Supporting the implementation and ongoing compliance of Respect@Work obligations and workplace behaviour initiatives
  • Assisting leaders in identifying, assessing and managing psychosocial hazards across the business
  • Conducting workplace inspections, audits and site engagements across project locations
  • Coordinating internal audit activities and supporting external certification audits
  • Monitoring HSQE performance and preparing reports, statistics and performance metrics
  • Supporting HSQE meetings, toolbox talks and safety communications
  • Assisting with project onboarding, client prequalification and contractor compliance requirements
  • Monitoring legislative changes and industry developments and providing recommendations to management
  • Supporting employee wellbeing initiatives and fostering a positive safety culture throughout the organisation
  • Developing, reviewing and updating HSQE policies, procedures, standards and supporting documentation to ensure ongoing compliance with legislative, ISO and client requirements
  • Coordinating periodic reviews of HSQE documentation and ensuring policy updates are effectively communicated and implemented across the business

Essential

  • Previous experience in a HSQE Officer, HSQE Advisor, Safety Advisor or similar role
  • Formal qualifications in Work Health & Safety, Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Management, Quality Management or a related discipline
  • Strong working knowledge of Australian Work Health and Safety legislation and the ability to interpret legislative requirements and translate them into practical workplace outcomes
  • Experience supporting integrated management systems and ISO certifications
  • Experience conducting workplace inspections, audits, risk assessments and incident investigations
  • Experience facilitating psychosocial hazard identification, risk assessment and control measures
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • High attention to detail and strong organisational abilities
  • Strong IT skills with experience using SharePoint and Microsoft 365 suite.
  • Current Driver’s Licence
  • Construction White Card

Desirable

  • Experience supporting Respect@Work compliance initiatives and workplace behaviour frameworks
  • Experience within surveying, construction, engineering, infrastructure or mining environments
  • Experience working within multi-site operations
  • Knowledge of environmental management systems and sustainability initiatives
  • Experience using safety management software and reporting platforms
