DIMENSIONAL CONTROL SURVEYOR

ABOUT THE ROLE

As a Dimensional Control Surveyor, you’ll lead high-precision survey work on complex structures, assemblies, and engineered assets. Using specialised tools and methodologies, you’ll deliver exacting spatial data that supports fabrication, installation, alignment, and quality assurance.

You will take ownership of project outcomes, guide junior staff, and work closely with clients to deliver tailored, reliable solutions safely and efficiently. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

PROJECT LEADERSHIP

  • Lead and oversee dimensional control surveying activities across complex engineering projects.
  • Ensure all work is delivered on time, within scope, and to the highest accuracy standards.
  • Coordinate with clients, project managers, and stakeholders to meet specific project objectives.

COMPLIANCE & HSQE

  • Maintain compliance with RM Surveys’ HSQE policies and ISO-accredited systems.
  • Develop and implement Foundation and Project-Specific SWMS.
  • Conduct toolbox talks and safety briefings as required.
  • Participate in incident investigations and contribute to improvement actions.
  • Promote a strong safety culture in all project environments.

TECHNICAL EXPERTISE

  • Operate advanced equipment including total stations, laser trackers, and 3D scanning tools.
  • Perform precise dimensional checks, alignment work, and complex measurement tasks.
  • Review, check, and approve survey calculations, reports, and engineering drawings.

TEAM DEVELOPMENT & MENTORING

  • Mentor and coach junior surveyors to support technical capability and career development.
  • Provide constructive feedback and encourage continuous improvement across the team.
  • Support knowledge sharing across Dimensional Control & Metrology services.

CLIENT ENGAGEMENT

  • Communicate effectively to understand client needs and deliver tailored solutions.
  • Maintain strong professional relationships to support ongoing and future work.
  • Represent RM Surveys confidently in client meetings and industry settings.

EQUIPMENT & RESOURCE MANAGEMENT

  • Ensure all specialised equipment is maintained, calibrated, and ready for field use.
  • Oversee inventory, coordinate equipment allocation, and identify opportunities for process or technology improvements.

ABOUT YOU

  • Recognised surveying qualification.
  • Previous experience in a dimensional control or metrology role (preferably within Australia).
  • Strong technical proficiency across specialised DC survey equipment and software.
  • Commitment to safe, reliable, and methodical work practices.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and collaboration skills.
